Years ago, my wife was having a difference of opinion about the Iraq war with a woman who was espousing incorrect information.  My wife asked her where she got her facts from.  The woman replied, "It is an opinion, I don't need any facts." 

The unfortunate thing about this statement was the other woman was serious.  It has become a great source of humor in our family. 

However, we sadly find this lack of obtaining any facts when one forms their opinion to happen far too often.

When hearing about Mayor Sam Adams and the campaign to recall him, my wife and I decided that we needed to know the available facts and not rely on opinions from one side or the other.

We pulled up Oregon Attorney General John Kroger's official report. The facts in the report told us that what we had been reading and hearing from other sources was wrong.  

As well, we pulled up the Portland Police officers' reports on the car accident that Sam Adams had.  Again, what we had been hearing and reading from other sources was wrong.

We invite you to read the reports for yourself. Do not believe what someone tells you as they may not have received the honest facts from their source.  Once you read the true reports, then form your own opinion.

Beverly and I were invited (through Kathy Bushman) to speak on the Sam Adams issue on a program produced by Glen Owen and Stephanie Potter.

Stephanie interviewed us and later contacted us for an interview on K-Boo.

We really liked that Stephanie was interested in hearing more than one side in order to form her opinion.  She also did her own research and was interested in any factual information.  Nice to know that there are still people like her in the media.
